You can't unring a bell....

Definition for 'You can't unring a bell'

This means that once something has been done, you have to live with the consequences as it can't be undone.

Anticipation....

A while back, a good long while. I saw these shawls on Ravelry

These shawls come from a book Crochet Lace by Mary Konior. Try as I might I was unable to find this book..If you try ebay or Amazon it goes as high as 250!! or more. I tried used books stores, you name it.

Well last week I did a search of Florida libraries and there it was. I called my local library and had them do a book hold on it...I had such anxiety that for some reason it may not happen. He said it will take at least a week. I did not care as long as I could get my hot little hands on this beauty. Meanwhile that night I heard on the local news that a homeless man went in the library and beat up that very librarian...He was hospitalized. (I cant make this stuff up.) All I could think..God forgive me, is I hope he ordered my book.
Well a librarian, called me yesterday morning at work and said I have your book. She said "you know this book is quite valuable" I was like "Oh really?" My heart was pounding just thinking about picking up that book, running home, making a cup of tea and savoring every page. I was happy all day... A little hitch in my giddy-up!

Anyway I go to pick it up, I get to the desk and blurt out my name, frantically looking around for the book. I have to see it! She brings the book over and keeps a hold of it. I now can see it just not touch it.
I'm thinking give me the damn book lady. But the civilized side of me is patiently waiting, sweat dripping down my back, palms itching. After a long, what is your name and address. (even though I gave this during the first phone call. I never remember borrowing a library book taking sooooo long) I had it in my arms. I hugged it oh so tight against my chest and ran to my car.
No.... I did not read it in my car, I went home and set the scene, hot tea, sweat pants, and empty house.. for full concentration. Just as I'm sitting to read my new treasure..Hubby comes in the door.
I did not even get to page one.
"Lets go eat" he says, the bike is running, lets enjoy this night. (I thought, no cooking?) Yea OK. My book will have to wait.
So finally last night about 10. I reset the scene and read my book. It is everything I waiting for and more. I will take this to my job Monday and copy all these patterns for me to keep. Ahhh victory!

TGIF!! Almost!

Thank goodness its almost Friday..It has been one of those weeks. I am ready for the weekend..Posting a picture of a Lace Tablecloth, throw? Someone worked very hard on this. Filet crochet. I got it at my Favorite Thrift shop..My Crazy Aunt. She holds stuff when she thinks I might be interested..$6 dollars!! Um yea, Im interested.

Working on a new baby blanket. This is the yarn that in a previous post I had started a crochet blanket and it was just too thick and heavy... so I frogged it! I got my new Adi Turbo's in the mail, I love them! And this yarn and feather and fan seemed the thing to do. Mailed the others off to a Hospital in need in Orlando. And a picture of my buddy in the middle because he always seems to be in the middle of everything! Till next time.....

Colorful Ripple

I found this ripple in my closet tucked away in one of those air tight vacuum bags. I made this afghan for my daughter Chelsea when she was 8.. She picked out the colors and it fits a twin bed.. I remember I was so determined to get it done it took me about a month of crocheting at night when the kids went off to bed. Not much Me time back then. It is in perfect condition, been washed many times, its very soft. Hence my love for the acrylic. I will keep it displayed in my sewing room and one day...maybe Chelsea will take for her child.

Heartmade blessings.....

An old friend came to see me today..We have been friends for years..Just run into each other around the holidays. Our children were friends when they were young. Good to see her, she told me about her mom and her battle with cancer..A really ugly story..She was one of those moms you would think was her sister, she was the life of all the parties! She is a very young 60 years old. I cannot put into words how badly I felt for her. She and her mom are so close, I did not know what to say..What do you say? What do you do?
I remembered Heartmade blessings. They are a charity group that sends afghans to those people suffering a loss, tragedy, or going through a rough time that need to be reminded of the simple fact that people care.
I thought this is it...I contacted the web site and within 24 hours someone got back to me and said within 6 weeks my friends mother would recieve an afghan..Each square is from someone else in the country. Each square is labled with that persons name. The charity is a wonderful organization. They collect squares and have woman from each area that assembles them. some examples click here
Here is a photo of my square I made this afternoon to send to her so I may participate in my friends, mom's afghan.. I will do a few more to send. This one is called butterfly square. Can you see the butterfly in the picture? I love it.. Please stop by their web site and check it out. Heartmade blessings.

Too many projects and Clover and Violet Giveaway extension!

I have too many porjects right now! I am trying to wrap them up...I am the type of person, who a stash actually makes me nervous..If I have too much yarn, fabric..I feel I need to use up right now..I like to finish each project before I start another. I have not held true to that lately. A sneak peak of a few projects I have been completing and my granny ripple progress. I picked up these two green wrought iron baskets as a thrift shop near my house! I had to have them! I think I will fill with handmade dishcloths? What do you think? Very excited.

chillin!

I have been adjusting to my new schedule. As you can see I changed my backround. I like to do it with the seasons. This one is so me! I love the granny type squares.
Lots going on right now...Today I actually got to sit by the pool and chill! Yea Me! I am posting a picture of my new crochet/knit bag. I purchased it in CVS last week. They have several colors and the bag is huge, for 14.99 and I had a 2 dollar coupon so I was walking out with this baby. Vera Bradley it is not, but it fits several large skeins of yarn and has a little zipper bag for your hooks. Love it!! And the colors are so me. If you go look for one, the are near the beach stuff.
The afghan is from a crochet a long I joined from Utube. Yea I know Utube? I was amazed to see all of the Utube crochet videos. Its a granny ripple, going so fast, Im loving the colors. I am pretty advanced crocheter, but the simplicity of this non-thinking project is just what I need right now...Later Ya'll

Adjusting....

Adjusting to my new schedule. I am truly a schedule person. I like to get up 1/2 hour early daily just to sit and drink my coffee in solitude. Im enjoying my new job, but still need to work out my schedule. Here are a few things I have been sneaking in between this and that. Trying to finish my quilt, testing out my free motion on my machine. I always do a practice piece before I start. But I gave up on the quilt when my kitty, Isis was like hey, Im comfortable here!
Working on another baby blanket for charity. Not liking it, probably will rip out and start again. I like the pattern ok, its the yarn. Its a cotton yarn, a friend talked me into buying. A baby yarn from a yarn store, very expensive! I think I paid 7 dollars per skein, I just dont like the drape or the feel of it. Maybe when its washed? Im an acrylic gal, It washes great and lasts forever. Anywho also taking a few moments today to scan through the latest issue of Southern Living...LOVE IT... Till next time...

So Sad....

I was saddened today to find out one of my favorite bloggers has stopped blogging. Mias Landiv. It does not say why, but I sure hope its not due to being stalked or health reasons. Please visit her blog before she takes it down. You wont be sorry. Amazing. Keep looking back at all her postings. She has an archive. You will be inpressed and inspired and want to move to Norway and Quilt and raise chickens....

Still sewing and creating.   This wall hanging/quilt was made at the recent quilt show in Lakeland Florida.  My mom and I attended and took...
