A New Chapter in my life

I am starting a new chapter in my life. I left my wonderful job at Orthopedic Specialists yesterday. I loved my job and ejoyed my time with OS, but It is time to focus on my business and the future. My friends at OS became my family, as they were there for me, and covered for me when we were going through some awful times with my daughter and for that I will be forever grateful. But on to my new job and my exciting future. I cannot wait to get started working at Quality Tire with my husband. These are pictures of my going away present. Do they know me or what? Quilting gift card, manicure gift card. Yarn, hooks, fabric! wine, beach towel, Im all set! This gift of course brought many tears to my eyes, we all shed a few yesterday.

For those of you who keeping asking when I get this stuff done, I truly dont sleep well. Oh I fall asleep ok, I just dont stay that way. So I wont lay there, I get right up and try to get something accomplished. Its my time. Crazy, I know.

Back in the saddle

Trying to get back into my routine. The weather is finally nice again, after a long long winter. YUK! I need to move farther south. Working on some pink things for my new grandbaby, coming in July! Im thinking she wont need a blanket and a hat in July! Found out Mom does not like pastel anyway. So back to the drawing board and more blankets and hats for charity. Close up of blanket, Tiramasu and simple soft yarn! I love, love love to knit and crochet with this yarn so soft and very nice when washed. Later Ya'll!

Tiramisu!

I finished up a Tiramisu baby blanket this weekend. The pattern can be found here
I love it so easy and elegant looking. I used cotton yarn this time, I usually use acrylic, due to ease of care and durability. I have seen so much use of this Lion Brand cotton, I love the feel and thought I would give it a whirl.
First of all it is nice to crochet with gives a nice soft but firm fabric, the down side to the yarn is it seems to have a cut off point or knot in the middle of each skein and it takes quite a bit of fancy stitching to hide it!
So I may use again for a baby sweater or somthing smaller, maybe granny squares. But as far as large projects, I dont think so. Its average cost is 5.49 so for a more expensive yarn you would expect a bit higher quailty as compared to Red heart yarn (2.20 per skein) that wears like iron. I have an afghan from my Wedding made by my Nana that still goes on my bed in the winter almost 26 years later, its in perfect condition. This baby afghan will be donated to New borns in need.

Still sewing and creating.   This wall hanging/quilt was made at the recent quilt show in Lakeland Florida.  My mom and I attended and took...
