Kitschy Christmas

Busy, busy, busy! That is what has kept me from blogger world. Lately, I dont seem to have time for anything. But I was able to finish this, its called a bunting! Dont you just love it! Its very cheesey, and 70's but I love it. I love anything homemade, homey. I get that from my mother. We did not have a lot when we were growing up but my mother always made Christmas such a special time, with baking together, sewing, decorating, singing to Johnny Mathis albums. I think that is why I love it so much. I have some Christmas things I keep out all year. My inspiration came from here

Its beginning to look a lot like......

Ahh I totally enjoyed my few days off. I did all my decorating and wrapping friday. I am offically done. Done you say? Yes, I am one of those people and I will have my tree down and packed away usually 4 days or less after Christmas.
I watched Hallmark Hall of Fame Channel all day Friday, they were showing Christmas movies. I love corny Christmas movies. I started on some crocheted snowflakes. They are a messy undertaking because I use old fashioned corn starch to stiffen them. That is the only thing that does not yellow after a few years.

Still here

Had major camera issues this week. My HP about 2 years old I absolutely love I can no longer charge. Oh the camera is fine but the cat knocked over the docking station and it broke. HP no longer makes the docking station, so on my hunt for a new one ( ebay, Amazon you name it) I found a refurbished one for an outlandish amount of money, waited for delivery for a week and then only to find out it does not work! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. So after visiting staples, office depot and radio shack they told us that it was no longer possible to charge my camera! What? Can you believe a perfectly good camera can no longer be charged? I am staying away from HP, apparently, Sony, GE and Kodak use universal charging systems and regular AA batteries. I learned a lot about cameras not that I wanted to, all I care about is a picture, not pixels or zoom or anything. I am just not that into it! So after a day of running around I am the proud owner of a new GE camera. Yea me! Merry Christmas to me! I feel like a need a class to operate this thing but here it is my very first picture while watching Tampa Bay Bucs finally play some serious football! GO TAMPA BAY! We won!It had to be the Orange uniforms! And by the way a sneak peek at a project I am working on so excited! Stay tuned! Have a great week Y'all!

The end of a creative weekend

Did not get much house cleaning done this weekend. My creative juices were flowing so, here Millie is modeling a slouchy hat and neckwarmer. Both done in Woolease thick and quick by Lion Brand yarn. There was a marathon on of Criminal minds one of my very favorite shows, and I wont waste time with TV unless I am doing something. I did get yard work done though so thats something!

Late night knit

Finished the pumpkin hat. Not my favorite item I have ever done. I will try again. It became so difficult when the hat got smaller to manipulate the four needles. I need to investigate how to finish off with four needles and not drop any stitches.

Bliss!

Enjoying my new space! First thing I am working on is tissue holders for TC. Every time we go to the services at TC, and a woman or man graduates, the tears start flowing. These are truly tears of Joy. My lazy Kitty Isis is showing off for the camera. Why cant I sleep like that? I love this extra day off! Amazing what some time off can do for the spirit!

This is a Longaberger basket from 1992! I got it at a thrift shop for 25 dollars! Steal! If you know Longaberger you know this probably cost 125 dollars at least! Just a few more pictures from my create my space project!

Create my Space part two!

Finally getting around to finishing my room. God Bless my husband and his patients! He worked so hard till late into the night to make me happy. Painting complete! Yea! Some pictures of what we accomplished. As you can see by the photos Kody was looking at us like....Hey we ever going to bed. He would not get off my great grandmothers quilt. I adore this quilt so very precious to me and I have a close up of one of the fabrics which my mother had made us clothes with. My need to make items for Charity must come from her. I would sit for hours and help her cut squares from old clothes. We sat in her dimly lit room and cut squares with a lead pencil and a cardboard square. I loved it, the fabric, the colors the texture. Then she would spread the impending quilt across her bed and admire her work. She could put a quilt together in a few days. Bless her heart I miss her. She would be amazed to see a rotary cutter, but somehow I think she would stick to her scissors and cardboard squares...... More to come..

create my space

I am so excited. I finally have my own space. My first purchase was this Stanley China cabinet. I fell in love when I saw it. The original sales slip was in the drawer for 12 hundred dollars, I paid 95! DEAL! I love a deal! It suits my needs and I can display all my crafty, quilty things. I am going for the cottage look, and trying to decide to paint? Not to paint? My husband thinks I should just leave it as is? HMMMMMMMMMMMM? Stay with me as I create my space!

Still sewing and creating.   This wall hanging/quilt was made at the recent quilt show in Lakeland Florida.  My mom and I attended and took...
